A jaw crusher comprises several main components, including the crushing chamber, the moving jaw, and the fixed jaw. These parts help the jaw crusher crush rock and other materials. Here are the critical parts of a jaw crusher and their functions:
Front frame, Lower Moving jaw, Upper wedge, Frame bolt, Filling wedge, Fixed wedge, Jaw die bolt, Pitman eye protection plate, Disc spring package, Flywheel, Upper Cheek plate, Eccentric shaft, Upper Fixed jaw, Pitman bearing, Upper Moving jaw, Pitman, Center wedges, Frame connecting rods, Lower Cheek plate, Side plate, Lower Fixed jaw, Toggle seat, etc.

Working principle:
The elector motor drives the belt and belt wheel to make the movable jaw to move up and down through the eccentric shaft, and then movable jaw goes up, the angle between the toggle pate and the movable jaw is bigger, thus pushing the movable jaw to get close to the fixed jaw, and at the same time, the materials are crushed or smashed, thus reaching the goal of crushing; when the movable jaw goes down, the angle between the toggle pate and the movable jaw is smaller, under the effect of the draw bar and the spring, the movable jaw moves always from the fixed jaw, and then the crushed materials will be discharged out from the lower mouth of the crushing chamber. With the continuous rotation of the elector motor, the movable jaw of the crusher will do periodic motion to crush and discharge the materials, thus realizing mass production.

Jaw crusher is mainly used for the medium-granularity crushing of all kinds of ores and large materials in mine, metallurgy, building material, highway, railway, water conservancy and chemistry. The maximum compression strength of the materials to be crushed is 320MPa.

Manufacturing Capability

Casting

Pump housings, volute casings and impeller bodies are among the more geometrically complex castings in industrial equipment manufacture — requiring accurate core setting, controlled solidification and consistent wall thickness to meet the hydraulic and pressure requirements of the finished pump. SMI’s casting capability covers grey iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, stainless steel and speciality alloys for corrosion-resistant applications.

Precision Machining

Cast pump components require precision machining of mating faces, bore dimensions, bearing seats and sealing surfaces to achieve correct assembly fit and hydraulic performance. SMI’s machining capability covers the full range of pump component features — flanged faces, impeller wear ring bores, shaft seal housings and bolt patterns — to the tolerances specified in the customer’s engineering drawing.

Corrosion-Resistant Materials

Pump applications in seawater service, offshore environments and chemical process industries impose material requirements beyond standard grey or ductile iron. SMI supplies pump components in duplex stainless steel, super duplex, Hastelloy-equivalent alloys and other corrosion-resistant specifications for customers operating in aggressive fluid environments. Material selection is confirmed at the enquiry stage based on the fluid handled, operating temperature and pressure, and customer material specification.

Planetary Reducer and Precision Gear Components — Custom Manufacturing to Customer Specification

SMI manufactures planetary reducers and precision gear components to customer drawing and technical specification — covering gear cutting, precision machining, heat treatment and assembly. Planetary reducer configurations cover a wide ratio range with multiple output shaft options, supplied to industrial equipment manufacturers and OEM customers in heavy machinery, mining, energy and marine sectors.

As with all SMI mechanical component supply, finished products are produced to the customer’s own engineering drawing or specification. SMI does not supply standard catalogue reducers — every configuration is engineered to the specific ratio, torque, shaft geometry and mounting requirements of the customer’s application.

Planetary Reducer — Configuration and Capability

A planetary gear system consists of a central sun gear, a set of planet gears rotating around it, a ring gear enclosing the assembly, and a planet carrier transmitting the output torque. The compact, coaxial layout of the planetary system delivers high torque density relative to its physical size — making it the preferred reducer configuration for space-constrained and high-torque applications across heavy industry.

  • Output flange / planet carrier flange — precision bolt circle and mating face, machined to assembly drawing tolerances
  • Ring gear — internal gear cutting to specified module, tooth profile and accuracy grade
  • Planet carrier assembly — bearing bore machining, planet pin holes and structural body
  • Planet gear shaft assembly — external gear cutting, shaft journals and spline features to drawing

Herringbone Gear Capability

In addition to planetary reducer components, SMI manufactures herringbone gears — a double helical gear configuration where two sets of oppositely angled helical teeth are combined side by side. The herringbone geometry cancels the axial thrust loads inherent in single helical gears, allowing high power transmission without the substantial thrust bearing requirements that helical gears impose. This characteristic makes herringbone gears particularly well suited to high-torque gearboxes in heavy machinery and marine propulsion applications.

Herringbone gears are more demanding to manufacture than equivalent spur or helical gears — requiring precise alignment of the opposing helical flanks at the centreline junction. SMI’s gear cutting capability covers this geometry, with finished gears supplied to the accuracy grade and material specification required by the customer’s application.
